Crafts Study Centre

Our collections embrace calligraphy, ceramics, furniture, wood and textiles and are accompanied by archives such as diaries, letters, photographs, crafts practitioner's working notes and in some cases their source collections.
The Centre's holdings include work by influential figures such as Bernard Leach, Lucie Rie, and Hans Coper in ceramics, Ethel Mairet, Phyllis Barron and Dorothy Larcher in textiles; calligraphy by Edward Johnston and Irene Wellington, and furniture by Ernest Gimson and Edward Barnsley.
Work by contemporary makers is actively collected and recent acquisitions include ceramics by Takeshi Yasuda and Emmanuel Cooper, furniture by Guy Martin, calligraphy by Ewan Clayton and Ann Hechle and woven textiles by Sue Hartree.
